TeamSpeex 1.0 Beta 2
TeamSpeex 1.0 Beta 2 is now available for download, it has alot of improvements over the previous public beta.
So go grab your copy from the downloads page now!
This beta now supports Voice Activation which was the most requested feature. Most of the client and admin commands are implemented as well, such as Sending Text Messages, Registering with the Server and Creating/Editing Channels.
And the most important is that I have fixed most of the critical bugs that were found in the previous beta. Thanks to all the testing and the bug reports from you guys and gals!
Unlike the previous beta, this beta build is compatible with Panther and Tiger, but it will probably not run on a Mac OS X version below 10.3.9.
For all the Jaguar users out there, I am sorry that this doesn’t run on your Mac yet. but don’t feel left out, I will work on it.
For the ones that still dont know about it, I have setup a forum where you can ask questions, report bugs or discuss anything regarding TeamSpeex. You may still use the blog comments for feedback but it’s recommend to use the forum for complicated questions.
I occasionally put new test revisions (non public release) on the forum as well, so keep an eye on it if you are interested in testing the latest revisions.

November 14th, 2005 at 20:41
Yay, I have already tested voice activation which is a very great thing!
Worky perfectly on my TeamSpeex Server (macgamenet.com).
Thanks alot for your time and your support for the little group of mac users out there!
November 14th, 2005 at 22:32
Great work, Savvy. I have mirrored your download on my site.
The link is http://www.firsttokill.com/TeamSpeex-1.0beta2.dmg if you want to add it to the mirrors list, by all means. Thanks again!
November 14th, 2005 at 23:30
GREAT!! Its improved, now I can see the people that are already logged in!! WAY TO GO! Now we need it to work right with XPLANE!!!
November 14th, 2005 at 23:58
Great job! This is a big step forward even from your last release on 11/8.
Now…how about Growl integration?
November 15th, 2005 at 02:04
Can you make a server applicatiom that will make us able to create our own server next….Please
November 15th, 2005 at 02:05
We all really appreciate what you’re doing. Thanks for the new features and I’m glad everythings going well with the developers of Teamspeak.
November 15th, 2005 at 04:17
You do excellent work, bro! And at impressive speed, too. Just had to tell ya how much use I get out of your program and how much I like it.
The voice activation works flawlessly. Got it set just right so people hear me talk but not eat
And I’ve had no problems with the admin functions.
My feature request now is for a cooler Connect to Server window
Thanks!
Shannon!lol!
November 15th, 2005 at 04:47
Yes TeapSpeex is indeed turning into a great app and the speed of ading new features is amazing.
One thing im missing is a sound that would let me know that someone has joined or left the chanle. Or maybe a window that would pop up in the corner of the screen and showed the name of the person that just joined. Now that would be realy cool!
Keep up the great work.
November 15th, 2005 at 05:15
Great work. I’ll get you another mirror up shortly.
Jeff
November 15th, 2005 at 06:28
Thanks Savvy. already i can tell this is going to be good!
i have also mirrored.

Jeff: I believe the new TeamSpeex open beta2 is both for Tiger and Panther (min 10.3.9) users. The non unicode version is no longer needed.

November 15th, 2005 at 17:50
Savvy U R my heroooooooooooo !!
November 15th, 2005 at 19:10
Hey Rob. Yeah, I just kept the old ones online in case anyone wants to rollback. BTW, the feedback we’re getting from our Mac client base is amazing. Everyone is extremely pleased with the work being done on TeamSpeex!
November 15th, 2005 at 22:11
Awesome stuff. The voice activation works very well. The server admin controls work great. It’s a full package.
I would like to add my request for Growl and/or voice notices when a user connects to channel.
you da man, savvy!
November 16th, 2005 at 22:58
um. . . to get into a server you must be registered but how do u do that???
November 16th, 2005 at 23:10
Pink,
To get into a server you must be registered OR have the server password if the owner has one enabled. Regardless, the information is needed from the owner/admin.
November 17th, 2005 at 02:45
Here is another mirror direct download from mem thx for the mac accessory http://www.chaossoldiers.com/TeamSpeex-1.0beta2.dmg
November 17th, 2005 at 11:23
For the next version, try to implement sound files to be played when people leave/join the server/channel. Or a sound when you mute/unmute mic, etc etc. Or, “now in the “…” channel” when you switch.
So far, I’m more than satisfied! Thank you
November 17th, 2005 at 17:13
you rock! KEEP IT UP! a real Mac os x app, following the UI rules as it should and soon to surpass the pc client in effectivity and usability (already easier to use).
GO GO GO
November 18th, 2005 at 06:45
feature request: ability to display channel descriptions (the only way i know how to do it now is to edit the channel)
thanks
November 19th, 2005 at 04:57
When will there be a record feature?
November 19th, 2005 at 05:22
Crap. This app doesn’t support the iMic.
Guess I’ll have to go back to the PC.
November 19th, 2005 at 05:25
Porce. mine supports iMic… It must be your computer then. and from what i think Savvy said. that teamspeex would use any mic/speakers that your mac would recognize in system sound settings
November 19th, 2005 at 12:43
It might be my iMic, actually. Audacity doesn’t recognize it either.
Even when it’s set as the default for sound input, only QuickTime Pro recognizes it. Oh well.
The second beta is a great improvement, btw. I’m glad I’m able to use Teamspeak again (I switched to Mac back in July, and thought I’d never be able to use it again). Good app other than lack of record.
November 19th, 2005 at 17:51
Here’s another mirror
http://scourge.swifthost.net/TeamSpeex-1.0beta2.dmg
November 19th, 2005 at 18:16
Why do you need a record feature? The PC version doesn’t even have it, it’s totally unnecessary for an audiochat application.
November 20th, 2005 at 03:55
Actually, the PC version of TeamSpeak does have a record feature.
November 20th, 2005 at 21:50
Hmmm,
Why cant I make a External MIC work on my Emac!!! I put AUDIO LINE IN, connect it and NOTHING!
Stefano
November 21st, 2005 at 02:00
You need an “iMic” to be able to use a “LINE IN” (analog) mic/headset on a Mac.
November 25th, 2005 at 12:22
Teamspeex (Teamspeak) für OS X
jaja, das alte leid. beim world of warcraft zocken will die raid-gruppe mal wieder über teamspeak kommunizieren. ich habe bereits aufgegeben jedesmal und immer wieder meine mitspieler zu erklären, dass ich kein teamspeak nutzen kann.
…
November 26th, 2005 at 04:35
Thank you SO MUCH for your effort in writing this!!! I will definately be donating some money as a thank-you once my paycheck comes in.
Did you have to reverse engineer the Teamspeak protocol, or did their developers cooperate with you?
November 26th, 2005 at 12:34
Thanks you very mutch!!!!!!!!:):):-D:-D
November 27th, 2005 at 11:58
THANKS
ur my hero!
November 27th, 2005 at 13:26
Hi, Looks like many of you are having a great time with the teamspeak.
But I couldn’t hear a nothing. Does anyone why we get the “unsupported Codec” error? Because that means you will automatically muted an dyou cannot hear or speak nothin.”
November 27th, 2005 at 13:34
Rice, the channel codec must be set to a Speex codec. you will need to ask a Server or Channel Admin to change the codec. Or if you have the privileges you can create your own channel with the correct codec.
November 27th, 2005 at 19:54
:-D
Thank you very much, its amazing how quickly this programme becomes better and better every day. i wish u all the best, keep goin:) good work!

Blacklight TeamSpeex is for Mac OS X only.
You want TeamSpeak http://www.goteamspeak.com/
November 28th, 2005 at 05:31
What happened to this comments page? Kind of odd… aligned to the left.
Intentional or an HTML mistake?
November 28th, 2005 at 05:45
And, as I just noticed… it only occurs when I access the comments page from the main page. After I posted a comment, it’s centered, as it should be.
!hmm!
November 28th, 2005 at 10:23
basaar’s trackback comment got messed up, looks it happens when a sentence is prefixed with 4 spaces.. anyway, I edited the comment, should be ok now
thnx for letting me know !exclamation!
November 28th, 2005 at 12:16
actually i have the same problem as rice but what do if no one can change the channel and i dont have priviliges to create a channel ? cant you change the way ts works with all channels ? cause a lot of pc users usually use other channels
and as in wow everything has to go fast… http://www.savvy.nl/blog/wp-images/smilies/censored.gif
November 28th, 2005 at 12:41
@Kikky: There should be at least someone that can change the codec, especially if its your guild’s teamspeak server. Try asking your guild leader or officers, I asked mine and he changed the channel codec on the fly. It even improved the quality of the sound. !wow!
The reason why TeamSpeex doesnt work with all channels is that it (currently?) only supports the Speex codec.
November 28th, 2005 at 16:50
Wonderful job on TeamSpeex. The only issue I’ve noticed so far is that my name does not show up after I’ve logged in - I appear as “Guest1″ in the user/channel list. The same happens for the only other TeamSpeex user in my guild. Is there something we need to change server side or is there something I need to fix in my client configuration?
November 28th, 2005 at 23:41
emma, did you specify a Nickname when connecting? even if you connect as a registered user you must specify a nickname or the server will auto assign you one like Guest1.
November 29th, 2005 at 22:24
Thank you for your good work in allowing us Mac users to participate with the PC world on Team Speak. I’ve used it for several hours and it worked without problems.
Keep up the great work!
December 2nd, 2005 at 06:55
Please hurry up and get support for growl! That is the one thing that is missing.
December 3rd, 2005 at 05:44
I have a feature request!
Often Teamspeex is not in the foreground but I would still like to know if I’m transmitting–could the dockbar icon somehow indicate when i’m transmitting audio?
Just a thought.
December 7th, 2005 at 02:14
good job!
December 8th, 2005 at 13:50
man, you’ve done such a great job, i love the app! keep up the good work! !yay!
December 9th, 2005 at 14:09
GREAT! THANKS!
TeamSpeex is what I waited for a long time…goodbye Virtual PC with Windows and TeamSpeak
December 10th, 2005 at 11:45
I would love growl support too.
Specially for Who is talking (with an option to turn it off)

December 14th, 2005 at 11:00
keep it up!!
December 16th, 2005 at 07:35

January 13th, 2006 at 19:28

January 21st, 2006 at 06:11
OK, does anyone know how a Mac user like myself can use TeamSpeex with World of Warcraft?
January 21st, 2006 at 10:25
You need a TS server to connect to… it’s not integrated into the game.
January 23rd, 2006 at 00:12
ya i got that, now what?
January 24th, 2006 at 01:59
It’s a separate application, open TS, connect to your server, hide the application, and start up WoW.
January 24th, 2006 at 16:01

worked perfect upto now (Actually it doesn´t even start the program anny more i reinstalled it du same problem) anny ideas, is this a bug or a problem with another update from apple ?
January 25th, 2006 at 22:11
You could try repairing permissions, or more specifically, make sure the Teamspeex applications permissions are CHMOD to 555, or 666.
January 27th, 2006 at 01:58
Thanks I love it!
February 4th, 2006 at 19:30
2 words : “Great job” !
I’m connected to a TS server 3-10 hours/day : no crash, no problems. Teamspeex is just working.

February 17th, 2006 at 15:16
thx for the information necessary to me.. and no comments (c)
February 26th, 2006 at 17:54
TS works just fine with world of warcraft, My wife and i use it every day. Just get the information from your guilds TS admin and he can set you up. Configuration is actually very similar to the PC version, if not easier
March 13th, 2006 at 19:30
Yay! I was waiting for someone to build a Macversion!
I’m on an iMac G5 here, with Tiger installed (10.4.5), but although I can login on someone’s server without any problems, there seems to be no incoming or outgoing sound.
I changed the soundsettings a couple of times, along with the settings from my systempreferences, and changed the “activate”button as well, but I can’t get the sound to work unfortunately. Could this be a bug perhaps?
But thanks a million for keeping this baby in developement!
March 13th, 2006 at 23:07
Try the newest beta revision, you can find them in the forum.
I think your problem is related with the channel codec though, TeamSpeex only supports the Speex codec. Check if your status icon is automatically set to muted (red) or not.
April 21st, 2006 at 20:38
Thanks for this nice Application!
I use Teamspeex for a while and I am very happy with it.
There is one little, but essential feature in the MAC version
that I am missing - Key bindings and the whisper to separat channels/users feature.
I’m no programer and I don’t know how hard
it is to implement this in the MAC version, but it would be very great if it could be a part of a future release.
Thanks for the great work.

Logitech ClearChat Pro USB headset mic. Mic will not work when I boot up another program besides Teamspeex so I can not play a game and have the mic work. It is clearly a software issue and LogiTech’s ‘drivers’ are built right in OS X…
June 26th, 2009 at 15:40
Hey. I can’t connect to the server i want to…and I’m 100 % positive that the IP and PW are the right ones. Anybody who got experience with a similar problem, and might even have a solution?
